Those of you who visit my LiveJournal are already aware that I’ve been struggling with my motivation to write most of this year. Whether it be offline life getting in the way, or a general lack of enthusiasm for ideas, I’ve had the worst productivity year for writing in over a decade. This realization led me to make some changes in my writing area.
For the past two weeks, I’ve changed bedrooms and created myself a killer office space to work in. I’ve also begun organizing an area for sewing and other crafts. My writing desk was built this week and by tonight, my second desk for crafts should also be finished. Then it’s a matter of organizing things into containers. My office area, however, will be finished tonight, I believe. It’s already so amazing! I hooked my desktop up last night after work and I have to say, I actually feel my creative juices flowing again! Sometimes all it takes is a little change in atmosphere, I guess. Now instead of dreading coming in this room, I’m anxious to get in and get to work. All because I traded my dark computer desk and hutch for a slim line built-in closet desk and shelving. And now all my writing reference books and research books are within arms reach!
